Who am I?

That’s a question we all spend days and nights thinking about as DCPs. But in this case, I’m asking that question as a way to introduce myself!

I am Nick Ludwig, a donor conceived person who discovered this fact about myself at thirty-six years old. I never, ever saw it coming. But now, I’m almost embarrassed to have never picked up on the one big thing that feels borderline obvious, in hindsight.

Since my biological revelations, I’ve written a book that’s a firsthand, unfiltered account of my experience having these family truths come to light. I’ve also created a podcast for donor conceived people across the globe to share their stories openly with the world.

I’ve learned so much since this aspect of my identity became part of who I am. As we all know, once you’re on this ride, it’s one that never ends—for some, the journey can be a strange and wonderful voyage into the unknown; and for others, it can bring about unimaginable confusion, struggle, and hurt.

But no matter what side of the coin we find ourselves on, it’s our voices that will bring us all closer to one another—and ultimately, closer to inner peace.
